Northfield Minnesota Food

In Northfield, Minnesota, there are plenty of tasty options, but living vegan in a small, rural town can be a struggle. Ahead of our trip to Little Acorn Sanctuary, we asked Northfields - based on vegan Erica Hoops - what vegans eat in the small town in Minnesota. Little Eichel Sanctuary, a nonprofit pantry, has been recruiting a cadre of volunteer chefs for several years.

Volunteers pack food parcels, which cost between $10 and $25, and collect them at St. Dominic's Church. The volunteers care for 9 - 12 seniors living in one of the following places.

If you know that you would like to receive your meal on the last day, please let us know so that we can inform you that you do not wish to resume delivery at this time. We will check your meals and if there is a problem we will arrange the delivery of the meal. Be sure to specify this if you want the delivery to be cancelled or if we want it to resume the next day.

Delivery starts at 12.15 pm and delivery may take up to one hour, depending on the number of people who receive their meals on that day. On days when you do not need a meal, please call the Culinary Services Department at 646 - 1022 and your meal will be delivered by 15 December 2011.

If you are interested in delivering food on wheels, please contact the Northfield Food Department at 646-1022 or the Culinary Services Department. Please send all enquiries and questions to the same e-mail address to contact us for more information on delivery times, delivery locations and delivery options.

Pictures of the takeaway menu can be found in the slideshow below, but here's the process: Call 507 - 664 - 3888 and tell us what you want to order. When you arrive at the place to pick up your food, read the information on the sign and ask a volunteer if you have any questions. If the food is not ready, go back to the parking lot and wait until it is on a snack table.

For lunch we have a soup and salad bar with a variety of ready meals such as vegan cheese, macaroni and cheese, pasta and more. Visit the CAC website and Rice County Public Health website for more information on the health and nutritional needs of the region's residents. Meals on Wheels is a Northfield Hospital - a supported, voluntary organization dedicated to meeting the community's nutritional needs through home-delivered meals.

We especially recommend the Tinga Pollo, which you get for $1.50 for two or $2.00 for three or four. We also have amazing guacamole, although this item is not always available, so make sure you ask for it.

And not to forget the green salsa, one of Minnesota's secret culinary treasures. Always make sure you get the spicy version of the salsa and not the sweet or even the sour version.

The Brussels sprouts meatballs are amazing, apart from the brats and burgers, but don't forget to order the walnuts and tell them to leave out the aioli. Next time you want an oven-baked pizza worthy of a little drool, call Domino's now. Put your cheque on Meals on Wheels and send it to the top of your bill. You need to know that your doctor's name is mentioned and that this person is the person you call when you want to start delivering meat on wheels.

The fare is in the Church of St. Dominic and is open to all except those who buy food in large quantities or more people participate. Each week, the food that can be picked up will vary depending on the source (s), so check the rates on the website for specific dates. The Food Group brings more fresh produce to the community and sources include local farmers markets, local grocery stores and local food trucks.

Perhaps the most important note about El Triunfo is its green sauce, but you can play around with a simple classic marinara or spice it up with fresh basil, garlic, tomatoes, red onions and a touch of salt and pepper. The bagels are vegan, less cheese is baked in the dough, and the first portion is free. A good base to plan your next trip to Northfield Food Group or one of the other food trucks.

You just have to ask if the burritos and tacos are vegan and ask for beans and rice without cheese. Depending on the diet and doctor's order, this may include everything you need for your meal.

We will give you more instructions in a future post, so just get excited and sign up for Domino's Piece of Pie RewardsA (r). Forget about earning points for free pizza when you order, you can earn points and free pizzas by signing up or signing up at Dominos.
